Limited Internet Contact with Forum Insufficient to Establish Personal Jurisdiction

Recently, we have twice discussed the intersection between internet marketing and personal jurisdiction. Yesterday, the Seventh Circuit issued another opinion addressing this issue in be2 LLC v. Ivanov, ___ F.3d ___ (7th Cir. 2011), Cause No. 10-2980. Here, the Court noted that attenuated internet contacts with a particular forum did not provide sufficient contacts to justify personal jurisdiction.
Lessons:

- Internet businessman must have more than 20 transient contacts with a forum in order to establish personal jurisdiction.
